NEKO's Pawtnering Up with Bloodworks NW
The kitties and the cool folks at Bloodworks NW are encouraging folks (and pets!) to donate blood!
Bloodworks NW contacted NEKO Seattle resident, Elvira: Hisstress of the Dark, to ask if she could raise awareness for blood donation in her commewnity! While she doesn’t understand why it’s needed, she thinks “giving blood” sounds very witchy and hardcore.
We're giving away an Elvira sticker to anyone who comes to NEKO with purrroof of blood donation from May 1-July 31!
Blood Donation for People
Donated blood is an ever-purresent need in our commewnity. By using what we have to help local pawspitals and clinics, any eligible cat lover can contribute to keeping our neighbors healthy! In fact, just one unit of donated blood can save up to three lives.
Bloodworks has locations all around us (including donor centers near us in Seattle and Bellingham), as well as frequent mobile blood drives. Just head to their scheduling page to find a spot that works fur you!
Blood Donation for Pets
Just like with humans, critical medical cases in animals can require donated blood. If you have a chill, social pet who doesn't mind a vet visit: they might be a purrfect candidate for blood donation, too!
Saving the lives of other animals is purrty great, but there are benefits for your little hero, too! Many facilities purrvide complimentary annual veterinary services for donor pets like physical exams, lab blood work, and cardiac imaging. It's such a cool way to maintain your pet's health while saving another.
