The beginning of a new year brings in a lot of change. You're subject to hearing (and maybe even saying) catchphrases such as, "New year, new me." For some, this includes welcoming a new cat into the home.
At NEKO we encourage adoption, so much so that we offer the opportunity. If you're considering welcoming a new (or even first) pet into your home, consider the following:
Lifestyle
When preparing to adopt a cat, it's important to consider your lifestyle. If you're active, do you want a cat that'll be playful? Do you have a flexible schedule? Will fees and/or vet visits meet your budget?
Time
Although cats are self-sufficient, they also need quality time. Make sure you have time to set aside each day to play or cuddle. This helps relieve stress or anxiety in your cat.
Living situation
If you're renting, are pets pre-approved? Is your home pet safe or able to become pet safe? Will your cat be restricted to a designated area?
The most important factor is that you're able to provide your furever friend with the love, attention, and care they deserve.
